Pictures of in progress models

Once
again it has been a long time since my last update. The good news is I
have managed to get some modelling done in the last few weeks, and some
of it has been my best work. The first model is of a writing desk and
chair. I am not completely pleased with the design of the desk, but the
chair turned out great and the entire model is wonderfully detailed.
This desk and chair are my first piece by piece furniture drawings,
every piece is measurable, the drawing is a complete blueprint. The
second model is still in progress, I uploaded the meditation bench to
the warehouse, but I'm still workng on the matching table. I am very
pleased with the design of the bench, and hopefully the table will turn
out well also. My SketchUp ability and speed are improving, now i'm
trying to concentrate on the designs. The final image here is of our
property, with a house and shop i want to build. I used an areial photo
for the ground and got it sized accuratly then i placed or traced out
the buildings, it is to scale within a few inches! If you didn't know,
Sketchup was created to use with Google Earth to build a 3D map of the
world!

Well,
I
haven't been updating
this page lately but I have been modeling! Where did I leave off? I
finished
the Arhaus cabinet and still have plans to
do more of their work in order to
build a reasonable sales presentation for them. Besides that I’ve
gotten side tracked
doing some other model groups. Mostly I’ve been working on a group of
buildings
for my property. The house is probably my best home design, the
interior has a nice layout and I think it will be easy and low cost to
build. The shop building was designed as a wood shop and ceramics
studio wiith a concrete kiln room, and the final building is a country
retail store and office space. The other group is of framed photographs
from the photo section of this site..

I
finally have some time for modeling! To bad I have to go back to work
on Monday. I've been doing mostly furniture lately because I would like
to have furniture companies pay me for building models of their
furniture. I'm currently working on Arhaus
pieces in hopes of getting
some work through them. The first pic is of an Arhaus computer cabinet
that is in progress and looks pretty good, but I'm having a little
difficulty translating the photographs into actual dimensions. The
second picture is of a dinning table and chairs that are my original
design. The final pic is of a desk I designed based on the shaker
style. I recently tried a new rendering program called Hypershot. The
program is interesting, it gives you the ability to export 2D images
that make your models look very realistic. There are some draw backs
with the ability to re-skin a model and the quality of the rendering,
but they can probably be overcome by learning more and/or buying the
full version. All the same it's worth checking out if you are sick of
the low quality renderings from Sketchup. Here are a couple of images I rendered using Hypershot.

I
had some time off from work last week, but with Christmas I still
didn't find much time for modeling, but these are the ones I managed to
put some time into. I am particularly pleased with the dovetail box, I
am learning how to use skins more effectively. I plan on turning the
box into an instructive woodworking animation, but for now it's just a
box. The shield is coming along nicely, and I plan on pairing it with a
new sword. The small shaker table is a model I've been wanting to do
for a long time now, and I finally found the time.

I
haven't had much time for modeling lately but here are a few models
I've been working on since my last update. I've been working on bed
designs for a while now, and this is the first design I have found moderately
acceptable. The middle image is a trellis for my upside down organic tomato farm. The
tower is my first attempt at a piece of medieval architecture.

I
am finally finished with the garden model. Well, ok, not finished, but
my computer can no longer handle the file size.
So i'm done working on it until I 'm able to upgrade my comp. I was
able to reach a point that I'm mostly satisfied with.

Aparently the file size is also to large for uploading to the sketch up
3Dwarehouse so here is a copy of the file if anyone wants
it:

I've
been working on this garden
model for a long time now. Building all of these plants has been an
enjoyable,
but very time-consuming task.
I am about done and will post the final pictures
here, but here’s the progression so far.
